EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An El Paso man who allegedly robbed a business and sexually assaulted a woman last month in Northeast El Paso tried to hide the victim behind the business after beating her unconscious, according to court documents obtained by KTSM.
Hekter Enrique Carreto, 21, was arrested on two counts of aggravated sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping, and one count of aggravated robbery.
Carreto was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and has a total bond of $5 million.
El Paso Police say just after 10 p.m. on Friday, March 28, its Crimes Against Persons Unit was dispatched to the 9100 block of Dyer Street in Northeast El Paso to assist in an investigation where a woman was found unconscious behind a business.
Court documents obtained by KTSM state that a witness told police that there was blood behind the counter as if someone dragged a body towards the employee’s work room.
Once officers arrived, they performed a protective sweep and located a woman in the back of the business who was nude and unresponsive, according to court documents.
Detectives were able to obtain surveillance footage from inside the business, which showed Carreto entering the business at around 10 p.m., walking behind the counter, and towards the woman who was standing behind the cash register.
Carreto began to assault the woman and threw her to the ground, and struck her head against the floor multiple times, according to court documents.
Surveillance footage showed the woman was unconscious with blood pooling around her head, and Carreto dragging the woman to the back of the store.
Carreto then began removing the victim’s clothing while she was unconscious and closed the door that separated the back area of the store from the front cash register area, according to court documents.
Carreto then removed his clothing and began to sexually assault and allegedly rape the victim, according to court documents.
Carreto then got himself dressed and wrapped a plastic bag around the victim’s head and used another plastic bag to drag the victim outside behind the business, a place she was “not likely to be found,” court documents stated.
Carreto was also seen picking up money from the floor and putting it on his person, according to court documents.
Court documents say that when Carreto was brought in for questioning, he admitted to entering the business to rob the store and admitted to physically assaulting the victim, having sex with her, and taking money from the floor.
Investigators discovered that a sexual assault of a child had happened back in November 2024, with the defendant listed as Carreto.
Court documents state that the victim sustained an open skull fracture, a spinal fracture, and is currently in the ICU and listed in critical condition.
