EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 29-year-old man is facing drug charges after he was pulled over and officers detected a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Horizon Police said.
At about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, Horizon Police were conducting “proactive patrol operations” along the 13600 block of Eastlake Boulevard.
That’s when officers initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Anthony Mena, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When questioned, Mena admitted there was marijuana present in the vehicle.
Following a subsequent investigation, Mena was taken into custody without incident and transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
Mena was issued a $50 bond for the possession of marijuana and no bond for the possession of a controlled substance.
