EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 65-year-old man from Sierra County was arrested last week after possessing child sexual abuse material, according to New Mexico State Police.

Police say in January, the State Police’s Investigations Bureau received a cyber tip from the New Mexico Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The tip identified two media files of suspected child sexual abuse material that were uploaded via Facebook Messenger.
The investigation later revealed that James Gatlin, 65, was identified as the person associated with the video, according to State Police.
On Wednesday, Sept. 17, agents executed a search warrant at Gatlin’s residence, where additional child sex abuse material was found, and he was arrested and booked into the Sierra County Adult Detention Center.
Gatlin had a prior conviction for sexual exploitation of children in 2016.
