EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An Otero County jury has found a 40-year-old man guilty of multiple counts of sex crimes with a minor, according to the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney’s Office (Alamogordo).
Ryan Reese, 40, was found guilty of 19 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, seven counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor, and five counts of incest on Thursday, Feb. 13,
following a five-day trial, the Alamogordo DA’s Office said.
The investigation began in August 2022 when the minor child disclosed to classmates
that she was being sexually abused, the Alamogordo DA’s Office said.
An ensuing investigation revealed that the minor child had been subjected to years of continual sexual abuse beginning at the age of 5 ½ and continued until she was 11, the DA’s Office said.
An Otero County grand jury indicted Reese on multiple counts of sexual abuse on Aug. 1, 2023.
“This was a tremendous team effort from multiple agencies including the Otero County
Sheriff’s Office, the Tularosa Basin Communications Center, Kids Inc. Child Advocacy Center,
Children Youth & Families Department (CYFD), the New Mexico Department of Corrections,
and the Alamogordo Public School District,” the Alamogordo DA’s Office said.
The case was investigated by the Otero County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by the District
Attorney Ryan Suggs and Chief Deputy District Attorney Michael Tighe.
Sentencing, which is expected to occur in late April or early May, will be held before District Court Judge Stephen P. Ochoa. Reese faces up to 445 years in prison.
