Posted on July 7, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 44-year-old man is facing drug charges after trying to evade deputies over the July Fourth holiday weekend, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

Cesar Alfredo Galindo, 44, was found to be in possession of about 1.1 pounds of methamphetamine, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Galindo is facing a charge of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, the Sheriff’s Office said.

His bonds totaled $80,000.

On Saturday, July 5, as part of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Safe Streets Operation, deputies tried to stop a vehicle for defective equipment along the 700 block of Horizon Boulevard.

The driver failed to stop and continued driving through Socorro, Clint and Fabens while trying to evade deputies, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The vehicle eventually stopped in a desert area near South Fabens-Carlsbad Road and Hacienda Road.

Galindo was taken into custody without incident.

The Sheriff’s Office said a pound of methamphetamine has an estimated street value of $5,000 and can produce more than 140 dosage units.

“Let this be a message to anyone thinking about running from law enforcement — if you
evade from our deputies, you will be caught,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “Our Safe Streets
Operation was found to be successful, and we’re committed to keeping drugs and
criminals off our streets.”
