EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two people died at the scene of a crash on Monday, Feb. 10 on I-10 near Van Horn, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Jose Gomez Jimenez, 61, of Palm Springs, Florida, and Niurka Ulloa Reyes, 48, of Tampa, Florida died at the scene of the crash that Monday.
DPS says Jimenez and Reyes were traveling on I-10 West nine miles east of Van Horn in a Freightliner tractor truck just after 4 a.m. that morning.
Preliminary information revealed that the tractor-truck headed north off of the road and entered the center median, according to DPS.
The tractor-truck then struck a concrete pillar of an overpass bridge with its front end near Exit 129.
Jimenez and Reyes were pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unknown if they were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to DPS.
The crash remains under investigation.
