KTSM News – Missing hiker found in Guadalupe Mountains National Park

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A missing hiker was found near the Guadalupe Peak Trail on Sunday, Jan. 12 in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park, according to the news release by the National Park Service.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, a group of hikers descended from Guadaplue Peak and one hiker separated from the group, according to the National Park Service.

National Park Service said the group reported the hiker missing in the evening and a search was initiated.

The hiker was found at around 11 a.m. on Jan. 12. The national park did not identify the hiker.

Guadalupe Mountains is about 115 miles east of El Paso.

The following agencies contributed to the search: Carlsbad Fire Department; Eddy County Fire and Rescue; Texas Department of Public Safety – Aircraft Operations Division Alpine; Texas Search and Rescue; U.S. Army Fort Bliss; U.S. Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) El Paso; U.S. Border Patrol Air and Marine Alpine; and National Park Service partners and volunteers.
