Police arrived they found the motoryclist — identified as 26-year-old Jason Vargas Jr. — dead at the scene.

The Special Traffic Investigation unit was called to take over the investigation. The initial investigation showed the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Alameda when a car made a left turn onto Delta. Vargas hit the car, police said.

Contributing factors may be speeding and running a red light by the motorcyclist, police said.

This is the 37th traffic fatality this year inside the City limits compared to 39 at the same time last year. The Special Traffic Investigations unit continues to investigate the crash.
