EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso Municipal Court is celebrating Municipal Courts Week this week from Nov. 3-7 with a series of educational and safety-focused events for the community.
The week is dedicated to showing appreciation for municipal court judges, court clerks, court administrators, cashiers, warrant clerks, prosecutors, police, court security and interpreters.
“Municipal Court Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the dedication and service of our Municipal Court team,” Municipal Court Director Annabelle Casas said. “Our judges, clerks, and staff play an essential role in keeping our community safe and informed, and we’re excited to welcome residents to the Municipal Court Downtown to enjoy our educational and family-friendly events throughout the week.”
Throughout the week, the Downtown court will feature safety and informational booths from various City departments, including Animal Services, the El Paso Fire Department, the El Paso Police Department, and Code Enforcement. Additional programming includes a special Children’s Story Time at the El Paso Public Library.

The El Paso Municipal Court is a court of record that handles Class C misdemeanors and civil parking citations issued within the City limits. The Municipal Court of Appeals hears appeals filed from the municipal courts.
Municipal Courts Week was established by the 86th Texas Legislature through House Resolution 1658 to recognize the essential role municipal courts play in promoting the safety, education, and well-being of Texas communities.
