EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — It’s Mutt Monday at KTSM!
This week, our friends from El Paso Animal Services brought Keysha for us to meet and hang out with.
And Keysha can be one of the dogs that you take home from their adoption centers and take for long walks for the rest of his life. Now would be the perfect time to do that because this week, El Paso Animal Services is celebrating National Walk Your Dog Week.
Colleen Paige, who created the holiday, first envisioned it as a single-day celebration. However, she soon saw that dedicating an entire week to the cause brought more meaningful advantages for both dogs and their humans.
El Paso Animal Services notes that walking provides both physical exercise and mental stimulation, helping to keep dogs healthy and happy. Regular walks can also help reduce problem behaviors that often stem from boredom or a lack of activity.
Animal Services also tells us that spending time outdoors improves the well-being of both pets and people, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the fresh air.
If you’re looking to help out, but don’t have the time or space to adopt, Animal Services says you can also make a difference for shelter pets by volunteering to walk dogs! They have weekly Rescue Runner Sundays where the community comes together to walk pups waiting for their forever homes.
El Paso Animal Services and KTSM are ready to help you find your perfect match.
