EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Animal Services wants you to keep celebrating Valentine’s Day all the way till next weekend.
That’s when the City’s animal shelter will hold its first-ever My Furry Valentine Adoption Event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 5001 Fred Wilson Ave.
“The atmosphere promises to be lively and engaging, with local vendors, rescue fundraisers, delectable food trucks, and additional surprises for both pets and their potential adopters. The day’s festivities include Doggy Speed Dating, an adorable Rescue Runners Kissing Booth for kisses and cuddles, a spirited doggy show, and more paw-some surprises that await attendees.” according to the news release announcing the event.
There will also be free pet microchipping and “affordable” vaccines from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the news release.
The My Furry Valentine Adoption Event also aligns with the ongoing Big Dogs, Bigger Hearts Adoption Promotion, extending through Feb. 18, with fees waived for adoptions for all dogs over 30 pounds.
“Adopting a large dog is not just an act of love; it’s a crucial step towards addressing the pressing needs of these often-overlooked animals in shelters nationwide,” says Terry Kebschull, director at El Paso Animal Services. “Large dogs are full of love and potential, and events like these play a vital role in creating awareness about the importance of adopting these wonderful companions.”
Interested adopters need a valid photo ID and must be over age of 18. All adoptions include the pets spay or neuter procedure, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and City registration.
