KTSM News – Navitity on view at Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site on Dec. 24

Posted on December 21, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site will be open on Christmas Eve for the public to see the Taylor family’s nativity collection.

The vistior center at the historic site, 2350 Calle Principal in Mesilla, will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Admission to the visitor center is free.

The nativity exhibit will also be available to view from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Jan. 5, but the large nativity or nacamiento will be only on display on Christmas Eve.

The historic site will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

“The Taylor Family had a longstanding tradition for many years of opening up the entryway of their home and inner courtyard to the public to display luminarias and their large Nacimiento. However, due to facility and construction work in the home, this year Taylor-Mesilla will host electric luminarias and the family’s large Nacimiento in the Reynolds Store (the visitor center). Also on display will be a selection of Nacimientos from around the world. Visitors can make a Christmas card, in the spirit of the late NM state legislator J. Paul Taylor and enjoy hot apple cider and cookies courtesy of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation,” according to a press release sent out about the event.
