The bridge at South Fork of the Negrito Creek, outside of Reserve, New Mexico, will be completed and Forest Road 141 will reopen to the public on Monday, Oct. 6, the Gila National Forest said.
Work was done over the past five months to replace the 66-year-old bridge. The original bridge was showing “signs of potential for catastrophic failure,” officials said earlier when announcing the project.
A 4.5-mile segment of Forest Road 141 and South Fork Campground have been closed since May because of the project.
