EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Traffic Safety Division will be sponsoring car seat inspection clinics on Saturday, Sept. 21, as part of National Seat Check Saturday and National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week.
National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week is from Sept. 15- Sept. 21 and NMDOT will be holding a campaign that focuses on the importance of properly securing children in an appropriate car seat or booster, NMDOT said in a press release.
During the event on Saturday, parents and caregivers will work with nationally certified child passenger safety technicians.
Those who are interested in participating in the clinics, parents, and caregivers should bring their car seat, car seat manual, and vehicle manual, and the child should also be present if possible. The car seat inspections operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
