EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The community is invited to the grand reopening ceremony of the Pat O’Rourke Community Recreation and Aquatic Center at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, the City of El Paso announced in a news release.
The facility, which is located at 901 Virginia Street, was closed temporarily for renovations made possible through the City of El Paso’s 2012 Quality of Life bond program, according to the City.
The City says the $1 million enhancements will help accommodate sports, fitness, aerobics, games, and outdoor leisure activities, and include the following improvements:
New gym flooring
New tile for the pool deck
New roof ladder
New wall openings in the weight room and gym
Replacement of two reception desks
Replacement of patio LED lights
New furniture for the patio area
Installation of automatic door at the entrance of the senior center room
New tile for fitness room restrooms
New fitness equipment
Repairs to twelve (12) concrete columns in basement
An enhanced HVAC system
“The enhancements are part of the City of El Paso’s commitment to enhance the quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors,” read the news release.
