EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man has been arrested for a shooting that injured a woman in Las Cruces this past Saturday, June 15, according to Las Cruces Police.
Police say Christian Cervantes Nieto, 19, is charged with felony counts of shooting at a house or dwelling, aggravated residential burglary, and aggravated assault.
Nieto also faces three misdemeanor counts of failure to appear.
Police say at around 10:30 p.m. that Saturday, police were dispatched to the 1900 block of West Picacho Avenue about shots fired at an apartment located in the area.
Police say they arrived and learned that Nieto discharged several rounds into an apartment.
Police say Nieto then entered the apartment and pointed a shotgun at a 36-year-old woman while making demands.
Nieto then allegedly fled the area in a black SUV. The woman suffered minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.
Police say they located Nieto Sunday morning, June 16, and arrested him. Police also recovered a shotgun in his possession.
Nieto was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he is initially being held without bond.
