EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two teenage boys were arrested and 10 firearms were seized Thursday, July 31, in Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Fire Department said.
Police say a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were arrested after gang activity was suspected, and police were able to obtain probable cause that both teens were in possession of firearms and illegal drugs.
Police were able to execute two search warrants and seize 10 firearms, four ballistic vests, and an undisclosed amount of fentanyl. Two of the 10 firearms were confirmed stolen.

The teens were arrested and were ordered to be initially held without bond in the juvenile section of the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
The task force is continuing its investigation, and additional arrests are possible.
This was a multi-agency task force effort composed of officers from the Las Cruces Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, Metro Narcotics, and agents from the FBI and ATF.
