EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An 84-year-old pedestrian was killed, and another was injured in a crash on Sunday evening, Oct. 26, in East El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).
Shortly after 9:10 p.m. on Sunday, the Special Traffic Investigations unit responded to the 1400 block of George Dieter about a crash involving two pedestrians.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a truck exited a parking lot and made a turn to go south on George Dieter. During this time, 84-year-old Elena Alarcon and 58-year-old Adan Vasquez were crossing George Dieter at the sidewalk when they got struck by the truck and suffered serious injuries, according to EPPD.
According to EPPD, the two pedestrians were taken to the hospital, and days later, on Saturday, Nov. 1, investigators learned from the medical examiner’s office that Alarcon had died from her injuries.
Failure to yield the right way to the pedestrians is a contributing factor to the crash. This is the 55th traffic fatality of 2025, compared to 57 at this time last year, EPPD added.
