EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Texas state Rep. Vince Perez, D-El Paso, is inviting local students to take part in the 2025 Texas House District Ornament Program, a statewide tradition that showcases student artwork on the Christmas tree inside the Texas House chamber during the Christmas season.
Each of the state’s 150 House districts selects one ornament designed by a local student, artist, or community member to represent their district at the Capitol.
The ornament for District 77 will be displayed and photographed alongside entries from across Texas.
“Each ornament tells the story of the people and places that make our district special,” Perez said. “We’re proud to offer students the chance to have their creativity shine at the Texas Capitol and to represent the heart of El Paso on a statewide stage.”
Students from schools in Del Valle, Ysleta, Bel Air, Riverside, Jefferson, Bowie, El Paso High, Austin, and Chapin feeder patterns are encouraged to participate by submitting a decorated ornament that reflects the culture and character of the El Paso community, Perez’s office said.
Ornaments are due to Perez’s district office by Monday, Nov. 3. One winning ornament will be selected to represent the district and sent to the Speaker’s Office in Austin by Nov. 12.
Students interested in the program should contact Perez’s District Office via email at District77.Perez@house.texas.gov
