EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A person was arrested on Wednesday, April 16, after they flashed an air gun while driving near San Elizario High School, according to San Elizario High School.
The school district says just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, a staff member reported an individual who was wearing a face covering driving behind them and flashing what they “perceived to be a weapon” at the corner of Socorro Road and Chicken Ranch Road.
The weapon was later confirmed to be an air gun/rifle, the district said.
The vehicle entered the exterior of San Elizario High School, where local authorities detained the individual.
The school district says there was no imminent threat to students or staff.
“Our top priorities are the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and we take any threat, whether real or false, very seriously. The San Elizario Independent School District will continue to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our students’ learning environments,” the school district said.
No further information has been released.
