EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 34-year-old man is facing drug and weapon charges after a traffic stop in El Paso’s Lower Valley, El Paso Police said.

Police said they arrested Angel Marin, 34, after a traffic stop led to the discovery of at least three pounds of marijuana in his vehicle and an unlawful firearm.
On Monday, May 19, officers observed Marin make a “traffic violation” when he was driving near Pendale and Arboleda in the Lower Valley.
During the traffic stop, officers saw an unholstered pistol and a sandwich bag in the vehicle, which appeared to contain marijuana, police said.

Officers then requested the assistance of a K-9 unit. The K-9 alerted officers to narcotics, police said.
Marin was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and for possessing more than 3 pounds of marijuana, police said. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
