EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Las Cruces police are still searching for a person who was involved in a fatal shooting over the weekend at a Whiskey Dick’s in Las Cruces.
Police say before 2 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, they were dispatched to reports of shots fired with injuries in the parking lot of Whiskey Dicks, 101 E. Union Ave.
Police then learned that two men, Javier Velasquez, 28, and Gabriel Lucero, 37, were involved in a physical confrontation in the parking lot.
At some point, Lucero is suspected of having a firearm and discharging at least one round that struck Velasquez. Police learned that Lucero was then shot by another person.
Velasquez and Lucero were taken to hospitals. Velasquez died as a result of his injuries, while Lucero currently remains hospitalized. Charges against Lucero are pending, police said.
Police add that they are still trying to identify the other person who shot Lucero and are asking the public if they have any video to share with police.
