EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — San Elizario’s Ricardo Pepi recorded an assist and a goal in PSV’s 3-2 win over Liverpool in the league phase finale of the Champions League at Philips Stadion in Eindhoven, Netherlands on Wednesday.
In the 35th minute of the match, Pepi helped PSV equalize the match. Pepi got a chest pass off to Johan Bakayoko, who then deposited the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1.
Later in the match, PSV and Liverpool scored another goal to make it 2-2 moments before halftime.
In stoppage time, Pepi scored PSV’s third goal of the match. Pepi got the faintest of a touch on cross and got it to go into the goal. Pepi’s goal ended up being the game-winning goal as PSV went onto secure a 3-2 win over Liverpool.
Pepi and PSV finished off the UCL league phase in 14th place with a 4-2-2 record. PSV secured its spot in the knockout phase play-off of the Champions League.
Despite the loss, Liverpool finished at the top of the table in the UCL league phase and secured its spot in the Champions League Round of 16.
After Wednesday’s match, West Ham submitted an official bid for Pepi and PSV rejected the bid, according to Fabrizio Romano.
