KTSM News – Rough Edge EDC: Baby Banter 2 a little knife that proves its worth

Posted on July 24, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Sometimes, the name of a pocket knife just says it all.

Such is the case for Civivi’s new Baby Banter 2.

This is the new upgraded version of the Baby Banter and like the name suggests, this is a small knife.

Rough Edge EDC: QSP Penguin gets upgrade, still an EDC icon

The original Baby Banter line was launched as a smaller version of the original WE Banter.

A little background: The WE Knife family consists of Sencut as its budget brand, Civivi as the mid-range brand and WE at the higher end.

For the past few days, I have been carrying around a new Civivi Baby Banter 2 with milled G10 handles and a red G10 liner.

This knife is small, smaller than anything I own. And I like small knives.

At first, I was questioning it. Is this a useful EDC knife or is it more of a conversation piece?

Let’s take a look at some numbers to put this knife into a little context.

The modified clip-point blade is 2.34 inches long. The knife is just 3.17 inches when closed. It’s small enough when closed that it can be held completely within my fist.

When the blade is deployed, the knife is just about 5.5 inches long. It weighs just 2.5 ounces.

It’s small and light, but after carrying it around for a few days, it is easy to answer that question up above.

This is no novelty act. The Baby Banter 2 is a useful, well-made, little knife.

Let’s run through a few “boxes” that this knife checks off.

The blade came razor sharp out of the box.

I am also a fan of clip-point blades, so that is another thing this knife has going in its favor.

The blade is deployed using ambidextrous thumb studs. Once I got used to them, the blade really rockets out with a satisfying snap.

The handle has some horizontal etching on the outer layer of green G10 to give it some extra “grippiness.”

Just inside the green G10 layer are red liners, also made of G10. That gives the knife a nice pop of color when you look at it from the top on down. There is also a red back spacer that matches the liner.

The locking mechanism is a crossbar lock that allows for easy one-hand opening and closing.

The ultra-deep carry pocket clip is reversible making this knife adaptable for the lefties out there.

It also has a lanyard hole for fans of that.

As you come to expect from Civivi, the knife is well made and the opening-and-closing action is super smooth.

Oh, it is easy to forget, but this knife comes with a little hidden extra something, something.

At the back end of the knife, it has a pair of tweezers and a tooth pick that slide into the G10 handle, like how you would see on a Swiss Army Knife.

It just adds some extra functionality to the Baby Banter 2.

The bottom line: This little knife has a lot going for it and is certainly not just a conversation starter.

Rough Edge EDC: QSP traditional combines artistry, function

As a fan of small knives, I can see carrying this around. With its small size and light weight, you might even forget you have it with you. And that can be a good thing when you are out and about on your daily adventures.

On the Civivi website, there are four flavors of the Baby Banter 2 currently being offered. The one I am featuring – green G10 and red liners – is going for $79.90.

Here is a breakdown on the others: blue aluminum ($85); purple aluminum ($85); and green canvas micarta ($80).
