EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – We have a new knife brand to explore this week, at least relatively new to me and to this space.
Let’s take a look at Tenable Knives. This is the budget brand for Chinese knife maker, Kansept Knives, which is known for its innovative mid-range to higher-end knives.
I must confess I have had my eye on Kansept for a couple of years, but their offerings have always been a bit out of my price range.

I did buy wifey a Kansept knife awhile back, but never have taken the plunge for myself.
So a budget version is intriguing to say the least.
Well, I recently got my hands on a Tenable Model No. 6.
My good friend over at Big Red EDC sent me a box of knives to check out and feature in my column. JB, the creative force over at Big Red EDC, regularly gets knives and other EDC to review for his YouTube channel.
He generously passes those along to friends through prize giveaways on his channel but also comes up with some other wonderful gestures that go above and beyond what you would ever expect from an online friend.
Around Christmas, he reached out and said he was sending me a box of knives to check out.
So, let’s take a look at one of those knives — the Tenable Model No. 6. I have had mine for a little over a week now.
The Model No. 6 comes with a sheepsfoot blade (great shape for utility cuts like opening boxes and other duties around the house, yard and office). The blade is a touch over 3 inches long and the overall length is about 7 ½ inches when open.

The knife features black G10 handles, a satin-style blade, thumb studs also made of G10 material, a back spacer that gives the knife a pop of blue and reversible deep carry pocket clip. And the locking mechanism is Tenable’s version of a crossbar lock, which operates very smoothly.
That’s a breakdown of some of the specs and details.
After carrying it awhile, I have found it to be super slicey, easy to open and deploy and a very strong addition to my pocket knife collection. I especially dig the pop of blue from the back spacer and lanyard hole. Overall, it is a very classy addition to the collection.
Tenable is building a lot of positive buzz. And I can see why. Some people are saying they “own” the $50 to $60 price range now.
I don’t know about that, but they do have some strong offerings.
On the Tenable website, the Model No. 6 lists for $56.89. Unfortunately, the black G10 version with satin blade is currently sold out, but they do have three other versions available at the website as of this writing.
I also found the black G10 version available at both Chicago Knife Works and Atlantic Knife. Both are great online retail options.
Tenable offers Kansept designs but with more budget-friendly materials. The Model 6 on the Kansept website ranges from about $75 to $300, depending on the particular flavor.
Here are links to the Tenable Knives website and to the Model 6.

Also if you haven’t checked the channel out, give Big Red EDC a look on YouTube. He is one of my chief mentors and guides in this EDC hobby.
