EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — State Sen. Cesar Blanco, D-Texas, held a Women Veterans Day event to “honor the countless women who have selflessly served our nation, the State of Texas and our local community through their dedicated military service,” according to his office.
The event was held Friday, June 14 at El Paso Community College’s Administrative Services Center, Building A, 9050 Viscount Blvd.
“As a proud supporter of 85(R) SB 805, which officially designated June 12th as Women Veterans Day in Texas, Senator Blanco continues to champion the recognition and appreciation of women veterans,” the press release stated.
Women Veterans Day is usually recognized on June 12. Texas has recognized Women Veterans Day since 2017.
“I’m proud to honor our women veterans. Whether on the front lines or in support roles, their sacrifices and contributions have been invaluable. Their resilience and dedication inspire us all, and it is our privilege to recognize their service and commitment to our nation,” Blanco said in the news release.
