KTSM News – Ski Apache to open winter season this weekend

Posted on November 22, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Ski Apache announced that it is opening its 2024-25 winter season on Saturday, Nov. 23, thanks to some strong early-season snowfall.

The season opens with lower chair three running, with additional lifts coming online as snowfall permits.

Opening weekend also marks the return of Party on the Mountain, a free family-friendly event featuring food, fun, and live entertainment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 23–24.

You can ski, enjoy live music or take a $30 gondola ride with views of the Sacramento Mountains.

Season passes for the 2024–2025 winter season are available for purchase through Dec. 1, with discounted early bird pricing starting at $450 for adults, teens, children, seniors (ages 55–69), military members, and college students. Seniors aged 70 and above can grab a pass for $250. Passes can be purchased in person at Party on the Mountain (Nov. 23–24), at the Town Ski Shop in Ruidoso, or online.

“Ski Apache is best known for its mild winter temperatures and abundance of blue-bird skiing. The mountain’s high elevations, combined with its southerly latitude, gives the resort a unique advantage of seeing abundant snowfall with comfortable weather. It’s this promise of blue-bird days and superb snow conditions that lures skiers and riders from far and wide,” the resort said in a news release.

Owned by the Mescalero Apache Tribe, Ski Apache boasts 750 skiable acres across 55 runs, all accessible via 11 lifts, including what the resort bills as New Mexico’s only eight-passenger gondola.
