KTSM News – Small Town Spot Light: Franklin Mountains

Posted on March 13, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) –  Our Small Town Spotlight continues, and today, we’re taking you to the mountains!

This journey will showcase 14,000 years of pre-history from El Paso, the greater Southwest, and Northern Mexico.

The Archeological Museum’s exhibitions are occasionally changed to reflect the scope of the museum’s collections and the community’s interests. This month, they are celebrating the blooming of Mexican poppies with a poppies fest.

Each spring, yellow and orange poppies stretch across the foot of the Franklin Mountains in northeast El Paso, creating beautiful scenery in the borderland.

March marks an important milestone for Castner Range in northeast El Paso. It is celebrating one year as a designated national monument.
