EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Socorro Independent School District (SISD) welcomed teachers to the 2025-26 school year at the second annual Socorro High School feeder pattern professional development conference.
The conference is called Leading Forward: Shaping Tomorrow’s Innovators and was held on Tuesday, July 29.
The conference featured interactive workshops, data-informed sessions, and team-building opportunities designed to foster a unified vision for excellence in education, according to the district.
The district said the conference began with guest speaker Joshua Ray, Ed.D., an educational speaker and author who has led the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work process at the elementary, secondary, and district level.
The Socorro High School principal, Dr. Ignacio Estorga, added that interim Superintendent James Vasquez and other board members were part of the event as well.
Estorga explained that as part of the event, teachers were divided into different breakout sessions, catering to the needs of their level: elementary, middle, and high school.
He also said the content they covered in these breakout sessions focused on instructional strategies.
“We want to make sure that our teachers remain focused to give our students the best opportunities to reach the next level,” Estorga added.
