EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of Socorro will break ground on a its first-ever Veterans Memorial.
The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Cougar Park, located at 10664 Socorro Rd.
“The Veterans Memorial will serve as a lasting tribute to the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country. This project has been a long-standing goal for the City of Socorro, reflecting the deep respect and gratitude the community holds for its veterans,” the City of Socorro said in its news release.
“This memorial is more than just a structure; it symbolizes our collective appreciation for the sacrifices made by our veterans,” said Socorro officials said. “We are proud to create a space where their legacy can be honored for generations to come.”
The groundbreaking event will include remarks from City officials, local veterans, and community leaders, along with a ceremonial turning of the soil to mark the beginning of the construction, the City of Socorro said in its news release.
