KTSM News – Sports field at Hadley complex in Las Cruces closed after light pole falls

Posted on March 10, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The sports fields at the Hadley Sports Complex and the Apodaca Park softball fields were closed last week after a light pole fell at the Maag sports field, the City of Las Cruces said.

The fields are being closed “out of an abundance of caution” and strong winds may have been a factor in the light pole falling, the City said. No injuries were reported.

Closures will include fields at Harty, Paz, Ron Galla, and Maag, the City added. The fields will be closed until further notice.

All light poles will be removed and replaced before reopening the fields for regular use, the City said.

Staff at Parks and Recreation will work directly with organizations who have previously scheduled activities on the fields. Apodaca Park baseball fields, Burn Lake soccer fields, High Noon fields 1-5 and East Mesa Public Recreation Complex fields remain open, the City said.

Staff is working with vendors to resolve the matter as quickly as possible, the City of Las Cruces said.
