KTSM News – Strong winds on the west slopes tonight; Cold front for Friday — Your 9-Day Forecast

Posted on January 19, 2024

While tens of millions of Americans are suffering in bitter cold and snow, El Paso hit 73 today! That’s 4 from the record of 77 set back in 1921. It’s the perfect day to pull out the pickleball net that Mason got for Christmas. So, whether you played pickleball or golf or basketball or simply ate lunch in the park, I hope you enjoyed today’s Spring-like weather because a cold front blows in overnight tonight. Your cooler forecast is below…

TONIGHT:  The skies will be partly cloudy overnight, and the winds will undergo a wind shift thanks to a cold front. Early in the evening, the winds will be west at 10-25 mph.  Overnight, the winds will shift NE at 10-20 mph causing stronger gusts on the west slope. The low will drop to 35.

FORECAST:  Friday will be partly cloudy and much cooler with a high of 58. The east winds will range from 10-30 mph, will feel quite chilly at times, and will be stronger on the west slopes of the mountains. Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a high of 55. Sunday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a high of 57. We could see a few drops of rain late Sunday evening.  Monday will be cloudy with a few drops of rain in the morning and a high of 60. Tuesday will be overcast with chilly winds and light rain. Tuesday’s high will drop down to 56. Wednesday will be overcast with rain, chilly winds, and a high of 55. Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy with gusty winds. Thursday’s high: 58.  A significant cold front blows in for Friday with raindrops, gusty winds, and a high of 49.
