EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Students at an elementary school in Central El Paso were evacuated Tuesday afternoon, March 26 after a carbon monoxide leak was suspected on campus.
Students at Clendenin Elementary School, 2701 Harrison Ave., were evacuated to Navarrete Middle School to allow personnel from El Paso Fire and Texas Gas Service to assist El Paso ISD facilities workers in investigating, according to EPISD.
The campus has since been declared safe, El Paso ISD said in a statement. The district called the evacuation “precautionary.”

“El Paso ISD extends gratitude to local first responders, law enforcement officers and utility officials for their swift action in ensuring the safety of our students and staff during the precautionary evacuation. The district also commends parents for their patience and understanding in picking up their children at Navarrete Middle School, where students were taken after leaving Clendenin.”
Normal operations are expected to resume Wednesday, March 27.
