EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Roughly 800 students in the Doña Ana County area are invited to explore future career opportunities at the Las Cruces Public Schools’ (LCPS) 3rd annual “Plan My Future” fair.
The event will be from 9 to 11 a.m. for high-school students and noon to 2 p.m. for middle-school students on Thursday, Feb. 27 in the west parking lot of the Field of Dreams, 2300 Tashiro Rd.
The “Plan My Future” fair is organized by the Las Cruces Public Schools Career and Technical Education team to “reach middle- and high-school students who might be interested in various career paths outside of college,” LCPS said in a news release.
Organizer Kathleen Gardner, who is a career readiness and work-based learning teacher with LCPS, said the success of the fair is “dependent on the businesses and organizations who lend time to interact with students and teach them more about post-secondary career paths.”
According to the school district, New Mexico State University will be participating along with military and other post-secondary organizations.
Local businesses and industry partners interested in participating in the fair and interacting with students are encouraged to sign up by clicking here or by contacting Gardner through email at kgardner@lcps.net or by calling (575) 640-3998.
The deadline to reserve space will be on Monday, Feb. 24.
In the previous Plan My Future event, building trades, media outlets, Doña Ana County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, local law enforcement agencies and other vocational industries participated, LCPS said. This included with live demonstrations of electrical work, heavy equipment and other career-related opportunities.
