KTSM News – Sunland Park Fire puts out trash fire in desert

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Sunland Park Fire put out a trash fire on Monday morning, June 16 in the desert area of Sunland Park.

The fire was behind the Villa Valencia subdivision and was on a site that is under development.

At about 7:30 a.m. Monday, firefighers saw heavy black smoke that was visible from McNutt Road and went to investigate.

The fire contained mattresses, carpets and roofing materials.

The location required use of the department’s off-road brush unit.
