EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A suspicious item has been found in the parking lot of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Region VIII Training Academy in far East El Paso, and the El Paso Police Department’s Bomb Squad has been called out on Sunday, June 22, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The EPPD Bomb Squad was called “out of an abundance of caution,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
As a safety measure, streets leading to the academy, the East Montana Patrol Station and Jail Annex have been temporarily closed.
“We ask the public to remain vigilant and avoid the area until further notice,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
