EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An 18-year-old man has been arrested and is being charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of another teen last October in South-Central El Paso, El Paso Police said.
Police said that 18-year-old Alan Mora was arrested in Santa Teresa, New Mexico and extradited on Wednesday, Jan. 29 to El Paso.
Mora is facing a manslaughter charge in the shooting death of 18-year-old Jesus Alberto Gonzalez back in October.
Police say that they responded to an “unknown problem” at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 7 along the 3300 block of East San Antonio.
When officers arrived, they found Gonzalez dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Crimes Against Persons arrived and took the lead in the investigation.
Police said that they learned that there were several people gathered at a home and at this gathering Mora was seen handling a firearm. Police said the gun discharged and struck Gonzalez, resulting in his death.
Mora has been charged with manslaughter with a bond of $500,000.
