KTSM News – There’s Nothing To Do In El Paso: Hat making workshop

Posted on February 3, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — KTSM morning anchors Karla Draksler and Ian Roth visited the Aghaa Hat Co. store as part of our morning show segment called “There’s Nothing To Do In El Paso.”

The store owner, Cynthia Gutierrez-Krapp, has been making custom-made hats for eight years and offers repairs and restorations of old hats.

Additionally, she holds vintage hat-making workshops to teach the community her techniques.

“I have the workshops maybe every couple of months. I had one in September, one in October then I gave myself a break and now hopefully February and March,” said Gutierrez-Krapp.

The hat-making workshops are held on three Saturdays. The next workshops are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 10 and 17, according to the store’s website.

The store is located at 2301 Alameda Ave. in South-Central El Paso, where every workshop/class takes place.

For more information on Aghaa Hat Co. workshops visit their website or Instagram page.
