EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A local non-profit is inviting the community to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at its community cookout event on Sunday, Sept. 22.
Mija, Yes You Can will be hosting a free and family-friendly community cookout from 12 to 5 p.m. at Glory Road Barbershop, located at 140 Montecillo.
According to the news release by Mija, Yes You Can, “In exchange for a monetary donation, attendees will receive a tasty plate of discada tacos, with all proceeds supporting ‘Mija, Yes You Can,’ an organization dedicated to empowering local women and girls through educational and professional resources.”
“At Glory Road Barbershop, we are proud to support local businesses and community
organizations,” said Alexis Aguirre, owner of Glory Road Barbershop. “We started as a dream
that became reality thanks to the support of this incredible community, and we are excited to
give back.”
The event will also feature a free HIT fitness class starting at 12 p.m. and will also have local vendors, music, prizes and more.
In addition, the University of Texas at El Paso’s men’s basketball team will also be in attendance, according to Mija, Yes You Can.
