EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Residents near Redd Road and Franklin High School will get a sneak preview of a stormwater drainage project that is being billed as a way to reduce flooding and protect property in the area.
El Paso Water will be hosting a come-and-go-style open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Tippin Elementary School, 6541 Bear Ridge Dr.

Residents will be able to see what improvements will be done to Arroyo 1 and meet with the project team.
“Bounded by neighborhoods and the Franklin Mountains, Arroyo 1 is a natural arroyo that converges at the intersection of Bear Ridge Drive and Franklin Hills Street. Improvements will help reduce flooding and protect private property by slowing the velocity of stormwater, preventing erosion and the clogging of Bear Ridge channel with silt and debris,” the water utility said in a news release.
Construction will begin this spring and is expected to be completed by winter 2024.
