EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — With Christmas around the corner, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is raising awareness about the following closures ahead of one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.
US-54 & State Line Project
Monday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Jan. 3 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
U.S. 54 south- and northbound from State Line Road reduced to one lane.
Crews will be working on demolition and preparation of the new turnaround of side shoulders.
Paisano Bridge Replacement
Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, through Tuesday, Sep. 16, 2025, continuous closure
Paisano (U.S. 85) eastbound between Doniphan and Executive closed.
Crews will be working on demolition and bridge work.
Pedestrian Facilities Improvement Project
Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Paisano (U.S. 62) west- and eastbound between Boone and Val Verde alternate lane closures.
Crews will be working on installing signs, service poles and ground boxes.
Dyer (BU 54) west- and eastbound between Titanic and Hercules alternate lane closures.
Crews will be working on placement of sidewalks, ADA ramps and curb and gutter and installing signs.
Dyer (SL 478) west- and eastbound between Ellerthorpe and Julian right lane closed
Crews will be working on installing signs, ground boxes, service poles and drill shafts.
Borderland Expressway Project
Monday, Dec. 30 through Friday, Jan. 3, (except Jan. 1) from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Railroad north- and southbound and Dyer (BU 54) north- and southbound between project limits alternate lane closures.
Crews will be doing asphalt paving work.
Guardrail Repair Project
Monday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
U.S. 54 northbound between Ellerthorpe and Fred Wilson right lane closed.
Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
U.S. 54 southbound between Cassidy and Pershing right lane closed.
Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Paisano (U.S. 85) eastbound between St. Vrain and Loop- 375 (Border Highway) complete on-ramp closure to Loop 375 East.
Thursday, Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I-10 westbound between Santa Fe and Porfirio Diaz right lane and off-ramp closed at Porfirio Diaz.
Friday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I-10 westbound at Copia exit complete off-ramp closed.
Miscellaneous Concrete
Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dyer (BU 54) southbound between Hercules and Gateway South alternate lane closures.
Crews will be repairing the guardrail.
Maintenance
Monday, Dec. 23, Friday, Dec. 27 and Monday through Friday, Jan. 3 (except Jan. 1) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
U.S. 54 southbound at Long Bridge between Mesquite Hills and McCombs alternate lane closures.
Crews will be sealing bridge joints.
Alternate lane closed at Loop 375 (Transmountain) east and westbound between both picnic stations.
Crews will be installing signs.
U.S. 54 northbound at Kenworthy complete freeway closure.
Detour – Exit at Kenworthy
Left lane closed between Kenworthy and Sean Haggerty.
Crews will be installing delineators.
Purple Heart Highway
Sunday, Dec. 1 to Tuesday, Dec. 31, daily, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Purple Heart Highway (Loop 375) north- and southbound left lane closures between Montana Avenue and Iron Medics Drive.
Crews will be paving in median.
Loop 375 Widening Project
Monday, Dec. 23, daily, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Americas Avenue (frontage road) northbound Pan American entrance ramp.
Americas Avenue (frontage road) south to north turnaround at South Americas Avenue (truck port of entry) intersection.
Crews will be installing concrete rail along new MSE wall.
Thursday, Jan. 2 to Friday, Jan. 3, daily, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Americas Avenue (frontage road) northbound Pan American entrance ramp.
Americas Avenue (frontage road) south to north turnaround at South Americas Avenue (truck port of entry) intersection.
Crews will be installing concrete rail along new MSE wall.
Saturday, Jan. 4, daily, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Americas Avenue (frontage road) alternating lane closures at North Loop underpass.
Crews will be pouring a bridge deck.
Continuous closure, beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3
Americas Avenue (frontage road) southbound left lane and south to north turnaround UPRR Bridge.
Crews will be working on installation of curb/sidewalk, guardrail, T-551 concrete barrier, and paving.
Horizon (FM 1281)/Darrington Reconstruction Project
Continuous closures from Monday, Dec. 9 through July 2025
Horizon Boulevard (FM 1281) hike/bike trail from Torrey Pines to Desert Mesa Drive will be closed indefinitely.
Crews will be working on final subgrade, pavement operations and excavating ponding areas.
