EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) El Paso has released a list of road closures for the week of Feb. 21, that could affect your commute.
I-10 Widening West
Sunday, Feb. 23, through Thursday, Feb. 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- South Desert Boulevard will be closed south of Redd Road.
- DETOUR: Turn right on Redd Road, left on Doniphan, left on Thorn Avenue.
Crews will be constructing a retaining wall.
Monday, Feb. 24, through Saturday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- I-10 East and West will be alternatingly reduced to one lane between Vinton Road and Transmountain Road.
Crews will be hauling dirt.
Monday, Feb. 24, through Saturday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Crews will be relocating barriers.

- Redd Road East and West will be alternatingly reduced to one lane at South Desert Boulevard and North Desert Boulevard.
Crews will be conducting electrical work.
Wednesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, Feb. 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-10 East will be closed at Los Mochis Drive.
- DETOUR: Continue on South Desert Boulevard, and re-enter I-10 East past Artcraft.
Crews will be relocating barriers.
49-Hour Closure
Saturday, March 1 at 4 a.m., through Monday, March 3 at 5 a.m.
- I-10 East will be closed at Vinton Road.
- DETOUR: Take Exit 2 (Spur 37/Vinton Road/Westway Drive), turn right on Vinton Road, left on Doniphan, left on Talbot Avenue, right on South Desert, and re-enter I-10 East past Artcraft.
- I-10 West closed at Transmountain Road.
- DETOUR: Take Exit 6A (Loop 375/Transmountain Road), continue on North Desert, and re-enter I-10 West past Vinton Road.
- South Desert Boulevard will be closed at Los Mochis Drive.
Crews will be opening the I-10 main lanes.

Alternating Lane Closures
Monday, Feb. 24 through Saturday, March 1, daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Alternating lane closures on I-10 East and I-10 West from Anthony, TX to Nashua Road
- Alternating lane closures on North Desert Boulevard and South Desert Boulevard from Anthony, TX to Nashua Road
Crews will be performing dirt work and removing miscellaneous materials.
Long Term Closure
Through Spring 2026
- Complete closure at Valley Chile Road Turnaround
- DETOUR: Southbound traffic will continue on South Desert Boulevard to Vinton Road, make a left on Vinton Road, and make another left onto North Desert Boulevard. Northbound traffic will continue on North Desert Boulevard to Antonio Street, make a left on Antonio Street, and make another left onto South Desert Boulevard.
Crews will be reconstructing and widening the bridge at Valle Chile Road.

Crews will be paving in the median.

- Alameda Avenue (SH-20) east- and westbound alternate lane closures between Glenwood Street and Presa Street.
Crews will be installing small road signs.
Horizon/Darrington Reconstruction Project
Monday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Darrington Road northbound will be closed from Eastlake Boulevard to Ryderwood Avenue.
- Northbound traffic should detour through Ryderwood Avenue for access to Eastlake Boulevard.
Crews will be placing barrier wall along median in preparation for demolition and reconstruction of Darrington Road.
Continuous closures
Friday, Feb. 14 at 4 a.m. until May 2025
- Horizon Boulevard eastbound complete closure between Horizon Crossing to Breaux Street.
Crews will be working on final subgrade, pavement operations and excavating ponding areas.
Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 4 a.m. until December 2025
- Darrington Road southbound lanes will become two lanes two-way traffic.
- Pete La Rue Circle will follow detour entrance at Roslyn Drive and Exit Jasper Drive.
Crews will be working on final subgrade, pavement operations and milling.
Loop 375 Mill and Inlay Project
Monday, Feb. 24 to Friday, Feb. 28, daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Joe Battle Boulevard (frontage road) north- and southbound alternate lane closures between Pellicano Drive and Montana Avenue
- Traffic will be reduced to one lane in work areas.
Crews will be constructing northbound and southbound turnaround lanes and installing traffic signals.
I-10 Landscape & Aesthetic Project
Saturday, Feb. 22, daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- I-10 westbound at Yarbrough right lane and shoulder closure
Crews will be placing RCP aesthetic.
