EPPD said that officers responded at 8 p.m. on Tuesday to the 9300 block of Stahala Drive for a reported crash involving a pedestrian.

The Special Traffic Investigations unit was called to assist in the investigation. The preliminary information revealed that a GMC Sierra was traveling west on Rutherford Drive approaching the intersection of Stahala Drive, EPPD said.

EPPD said the truck stopped at the intersection and then made a left turn, striking a pedestrian, later identified as 90-year-old Helen Clanan, crossing the street on the crosswalk.

Clanan was taken to a local hospital, and three days later, investigators were notified that she had died, EPPD said.

This is the 24th traffic fatality this year.
