KTSM News – UPDATE: Man in 70s dead after being struck by vehicle in Northwest EP

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A man in his 70s is dead following a crash involving a pedestrian that happened early Sunday morning, Oct. 20 in Northwest El Paso, according to El Paso Police Department (EPPD).

The initial investigation revealed that a driver was traveling southbound at the 6400 block of South Desert Blvd. when she struck something in the roadway, according to EPPD.

EPPD said the driver initially left the scene but later returned and met with police.

The investigation also revealed the driver had hit a pedestrian, whom police identified as a man in his 70s, who was in the roadway at the time. The man died at the scene, according to EPPD.

The Special Traffic Investigations continue investigating the crash.

EPPD said a pedestrian in the roadway was a contributing factor in this crash. This is the 54th traffic fatality this year compared to 62 at the same time last year.
