EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 25-year-old man was recently arrested on Monday, Aug. 26 after an attempted burglary of a habitation led to a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, June 22 in Northeast El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).
EPPD said at 4:37 a.m. on June 22, officers responded to a shooting at the 4800 block of Tholos Court. That is right off Kenworthy Street and near Arlington Park.
When officers arrived, they located Andrew Michael Poblano, 25, in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound, according to EPPD.
Poblano was taken to a local hospital in “critical but stable condition,” according to EPPD.
EPPD said Crimes Against Persons detectives were called out to assist in the investigation.
The investigation revealed Poblano had rung a 69-year-old man’s doorbell when a verbal confrontation occurred.
During the confrontation, the 69-year-old man discharged a weapon in self-defense, hitting Poblano, according to EPPD.
On Aug. 26, Poblano was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a $15,000 bond, after a capias for an attempt to commit burglary had been issued.
