UPDATE: El Paso Fire’s Special Rescue crews, along with Customs and Border Protection, have cleared the storm drain and no individuals were found, the Fire Department said.
No one was transported in the incident.
The scene has been turned over to CBP.
The Fire Department said it was returning to its stations at about 6:30 p.m.
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Fire Department is helping with a confined space rescue after getting reports of “an unknown amount of individuals” in a storm drain Saturday evening, Jan. 25 in El Paso’s Lower Valley.
Fire officials said an “unknown amount of individuals” entered a storm drain and “are on the run.”
The incident is happening at 797 S. Zaragoza off the Border Highway near the Ysleta Port of Entry. The call came in at 5:17 p.m.
Both the Fire Department and Customs and Border Protection are at the scene, fire officials said.
El Paso Fire is assisting with the special rescue operation and it is likely the scene will be turned over to CBP later, fire officials said.
