EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 67-year-old man was killed when he was crossing Paisano Street against the traffic light and was struck by a pickup truck on Monday, March 31 in Downtown El Paso, El Paso Police said.
Juan Parga Martinez, a 67-year-old Juarez resident, was killed when he was hit by a pickup truck at Paisano and Santa Fe.
At about 1:30 p.m. Monday, Martinez tried to cross Paisano at Santa Fe when he was hit by a pickup truck that was making a left turn onto Paisano with a green light.
Police said Martinez crossed the street against the pedestrian signal.
Martinez was taken to a hospital where he later died.
This is the 17th traffic fatality in the El Paso City limits so far this year compared to 14 at the same time last year.
