EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office investigated a suspicious item Friday, July 5 at the GECU in far East El Paso.
The Sheriff’s Office said at almost 6 a.m. July 5 deputies responded to a call regarding a suspicious item at 12598 Rojas at GECU.
When deputies arrived, they found a black briefcase on a lamp post in the ATM parking lot with what appeared to be a “fuse sticking out of the side.”
The Sheriff’s Office said the bomb squad from El Paso Police Department (EPPD) was called to inspect the briefcase. Upon undergoing x-ray examination, the contents were found to pose to risk of harm.
No injuries were reported, and deputies returned the briefcase to its rightful owner on scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
