EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — UTEP men’s basketball player Trey Horton III was arrested and booked for driving while intoxicated (DWI) on Sunday, November 2, 2025, according to jail records.
Horton III was booked in the Downtown Jail and released on a $750 personal recognizance bond on Monday, November 3, according to jail records.
Statement from UTEP Men’s Basketball regarding Trey Horton III:
“UTEP men’s basketball is aware of the situation involving Trey Horton and is in the process of gathering more information. At this time, Trey is suspended from all UTEP men’s basketball activities until further notice.”

Horton III was not present for UTEP men’s basketball’s 2025-26 season opener on Monday night.
Horton III has been a member of the UTEP men’s basketball team since the 2023-24 season. During his freshman year, he was named to the CUSA All-Freshman team, one of only three Miners to earn this distinction.
As a sophomore, Horton appeared in 32 games, including one start. He contributed an average of 2.9 points per game, 1.3 rebounds per game, and 0.4 steals per game in 11.2 minutes per game.
Horton is one of four returnees from last season’s squad, bringing valuable experience to the current squad.
