EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) β In its first home game in 25 days, the UTEP men’s basketball played its way to an 88-72 win over Seattle U at the Don Haskins Center on Saturday.
UTEP put together a dominant first half, which played a huge part in getting the win over the Redhawks. UTEP shot 60.6% (20-33) from the field and 41.7% (5-12) from three-point land. UTEP forced Seattle U into 12 turnovers in the first half and scored 18 points off of them. Otis Frazier III led UTEP in scoring in the first half with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.

Frazier III ended up being UTEP’s second leading scorer in the contest, as he finished with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor and 2-of-3 shooting from three-point land.
Ahamad Bynum, the nation’s top three-point shooter, scored 19 points off the bench. The junior guard from Chicago, Illinois shot 7-of-9 from the floor and went 2-of-2 from three. The 19-point outing was Bynum’s fourth double figure scoring game of the 2024-25 season.
UTEP’s big men Derick Hamilton and Kevin Kalu had a great outing. Hamilton scored 12 points (5-6 FG) and recorded five rebounds in the contest. Kalu scored 10 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 FT), had four rebounds, and two blocks.
UTEP forced Seattle U into 17 turnovers total and scored 27 points off of them. UTEP outscored Seattle U 50-24 in the paint.
Seattle U was led by Paris Dawson. He scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe recorded a total of 14 points and John Christofilis scored 13 points.
